Edmund is a rural crossroads in central Lexington County, built around the junction of SC-6 and SC-302, about 20 minutes south of our Lexington shop. Our 24/7 emergency line covers it, and we repair and replace heat pumps, service manufactured-home systems and handle HVAC electrical work on rural properties. Fewer than a thousand people spread across nearly seven square miles, and outdoor equipment often sits far from the house, exposed to sun, storms and long wire runs.
Open lots along the SC-6 and SC-302 crossroads
Census takers first drew Edmund's boundary in 2020 and counted 969 residents in 6.84 square miles. That works out to roughly 140 people per square mile, compared with well over a thousand in White Knoll just up the road. From the junction, SC-6 heads north about 9 miles to Lexington and southeast toward Swansea, while SC-302 runs northeast to West Columbia and southwest to Pelion. The two highways share Edmund Highway for a short stretch before SC-6 turns off onto South Lake Drive.

That spread-out pattern shapes the HVAC work. Ranch houses and horse properties with barns are part of the picture, but Census estimates count about three in four Edmund homes as mobile homes, far more than in White Knoll next door, and most were built between 1980 and 2009. Roughly 91 percent of households heat with electricity and most of the rest with propane; utility gas barely registers. So heat pumps do most of the heating, backed by electric heat strips on the coldest nights. The ground sits higher here, around 456 feet, and open lots leave outdoor equipment more exposed to wind and summer storms than a shaded subdivision does. Disconnects mounted on posts, long underground feeds and outdoor units set well away from the house all age faster.

Manufactured homes add their own list: belly ducts, crossover connections and equipment that must be rated for that kind of housing. For heating problems, our heat pump repair page covers the failures we see most, and HVAC electrical repair explains the wiring side.

Learn moreHow does a service call work on acreage south of Lexington?
Rural calls start with a little planning. When you book, tell us about gates, long drives, dogs or livestock near the equipment, and where the unit sits relative to the house. Once on site, our first stop is the outdoor equipment and the circuit feeding it, since storm damage and corroded connections are common culprits out here, then moves to the air handler or packaged unit and the ductwork.

We explain what failed and why, and if a part was damaged by lightning or a surge, we say so plainly so you can decide whether to talk to your insurer. Repair or replacement is your call after you have seen the options.

Between the Edmund Community Club and the Red Bank line
Edmund has no town hall of its own, though the Edmund Community Club carries the community's name. To the northwest it borders White Knoll and Red Bank, and to the northeast South Congaree and Pine Ridge. Mail uses Lexington's 29073 ZIP, and for us the route is simply South Lake Drive.
Boiling Springs Road meets the highways near the junction, and from there SC-6 runs about 12 miles southeast to Swansea while SC-302 reaches Pelion in about 7. Being unincorporated, Edmund has no town permit desk. Equipment change-outs go through Lexington County's building office at 212 South Lake Drive, the same road we take south, and the county treats replacing a mechanical system as permitted work while routine repairs need no permit.
Between Edmund and our Lexington base
From the Edmund crossroads, follow SC-6 north onto South Lake Drive and stay on it about 9 miles through White Knoll and Red Bank into downtown Lexington.
Typical drive: about 20 min (12 mi)

How long does it take you to reach Edmund from Lexington?
It is about a 20-minute drive for us, mostly a straight run down SC-6 through Red Bank and White Knoll. If our board has a gap, a repair may be slotted in that same afternoon, and the emergency line rings through 24/7. If your place is down a long private drive or behind a gate, tell us when you book so the technician knows how to get to the equipment.
Do you service heat pumps on manufactured homes in Edmund?
Yes. Roughly three in four Edmund homes are counted as mobile homes, and nearly all of them heat with electricity. We repair and maintain both packaged heat pumps and split heat pumps on manufactured homes. A visit covers refrigerant pressures, the defrost board and sensor, reversing valve, capacitor, contactor and heat strips, plus the duct connection under the home. If replacement makes more sense, we choose equipment approved for manufactured housing and size it to the home.
Can you replace worn outdoor disconnects or wiring on a rural property?
Yes, when the wiring serves your heating and cooling equipment. We replace rusted or burned disconnects, weathered whips and conduit, and loose or undersized connections between the breaker and the unit, and we check the breaker itself. Edmund averages roughly 140 people per square mile, so on lots where the unit sits away from the house we also look at how the circuit is run and protected along the way.

“Chong came to assess my HVAC for routine maintenance. After calling three others to no avail. He reached out earlier in the day to ensure we were still on and he showed up 5 mins before scheduled time. His honesty was refreshing. He explained everything thoroughly and offered suggestions but did not try to upsell me on anything. To my surprise he offered several discounts. He gained a new customer in me. Thanks again!”
“My AC went out last week. These guys were able to locate me a replacement unit quickly when others said they couldn't give me any timeline. They showed up when they said they would and did an excellent job. They were very friendly and professional and left the work are nice and clean. Pricing was competitive. Highly recommended. I'll be calling again.”

“Chong showed up on time and took a look at our system. We wanted a full duct work replacement and he agreed it was a good idea. He helped us with very easy financing. He arrived to do the job when he said he would and did excellent work. When he was done, he cleaned everything up. You wouldn't have even known he was there. Our AC works better than it ever has. We can't recommend Puzzled Comfort Solutions more. They are awesome to work with and do excellent work. Thank you very much Chong.”
