HVAC Financing in Lexington, SC

HVAC financing spreads the cost of a new system or ductwork over monthly payments, so a Lexington household facing an unplanned replacement in July heat or a winter freeze can choose the right equipment instead of the cheapest. Here is how it works and what to ask before signing.

HVAC financing in Lexington, SC usually comes up on the worst kind of day: the AC quit in a July heat wave, or the heat pump failed the week a hard freeze moved in, and replacement was not in this month's budget. Financing lets you pay for a new system, a heat pump upgrade or a full ductwork replacement in monthly payments instead of all at once.

Local systems give reasons to plan ahead: R-22 equipment on reclaimed-only refrigerant, sweating crawlspace ducts in older ranches, and electric strip heat that inflates winter bills. When one of those turns a repair into a replacement, financing keeps the choice about the right system.

We offer financing on our projects and are happy to walk you through how it works. Rates and terms are set by the lender for each applicant, which is why none are printed on this page. What follows explains how HVAC financing generally works and what to check before you sign.

How HVAC financing works, in plain terms

Most contractor financing is a loan or credit account from a third-party lender. The contractor helps you apply, but the lender reviews your credit, decides whether to approve you, and sets the rate, term and payment.

  1. You get a written quote for the project after an on-site look at the equipment, ducts and electrical, often with more than one option.
  2. You apply with the lender, typically online or by phone.
  3. The lender decides and tells you the approved amount and terms.
  4. You sign the agreement after reading it.
  5. The work is done, including any permit and inspection, and the lender pays the contractor.
  6. You repay the lender in monthly payments.

Common types of offers

  • Fixed-rate installment loans. Same payment each month until paid off.
  • Promotional periods. A reduced or zero rate for a set time. Some are true reduced-rate offers. Others use deferred interest, where interest is charged back to the start if the balance is not paid in full by the end of the promotion. These are very different, so ask which kind it is.
  • Revolving credit lines. Work like a credit card dedicated to home improvement purchases.

Projects you can finance

Financing usually covers a full project, not a single part. Common examples:

  • Central AC or heat pump replacement, including heat pump installation for homes moving off electric strip heat.
  • Furnace and air handler replacement through our HVAC installation and replacement service.
  • Full or partial ductwork replacement, often needed when the original ducts in an older house have reached the end of their life.
  • Ductless mini-splits for additions and rooms without ducts.
  • Indoor air quality equipment installed with a new system.

Equipment replacement is the most common project people finance.

Whether a repair qualifies depends on the lender, so ask when you get the quote. Our part is the same on every financed job: an itemized written quote that lists equipment, labor, ductwork and permits, help understanding the application, and an installation date set once the lender approves.

Questions to ask before you sign anything

A good offer is one you fully understand. Before signing, ask:

  • What is the rate during any promotion, and what is it afterward?
  • Is this deferred interest, and what happens if the balance is not paid off in time?
  • What is the monthly payment, and what is the total cost over the full term?
  • Is there a penalty for paying it off early?
  • Are there application, origination or late fees?
  • Does applying use a soft credit check or a hard one?
  • Who services the account after installation?
  • What happens if the final project cost changes from the quote?

Most applications are short forms completed online or over the phone with the lender.

What changes your monthly payment?

  • Project size. Equipment type, efficiency level, ductwork and accessories.
  • Down payment. Paying part up front lowers the amount financed.
  • Term length. Longer terms lower the payment but usually raise the total paid.
  • Rate and offer type. Set by the lender based on your application.
  • Your credit profile. It affects which offers you qualify for.

The project amount is set by what the house needs. A heat pump above the 14.3 SEER2 Southeast minimum costs more than a base model but can lower bills. Ducts that have to be replaced, an attic air handler that is hard to reach, a new pad or disconnect, and permit fees all add to the total. If someone in the household qualifies for one of our published discounts, it comes off the quote before anything is financed, which lowers the amount borrowed.

Lending rules, licensing and what the paperwork should show

Consumer financing is regulated. Under the federal Truth in Lending Act, the lender has to disclose the APR, the finance charge and the total of payments before you sign, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau publishes plain guides on deferred-interest offers. The contract you sign with the lender is separate from the contractor's quote, so keep both. Check the installing company on SC LLR's license search, since financing does not change who answers for the installation; on our end, we are fully licensed and insured. The quote should list the building permit, and the old system's refrigerant goes into a recovery tank per EPA Section 608.

Other ways Midlands homeowners cover a new system

Financing through the contractor is one option, not the only one. Some homeowners use savings, a personal loan from their bank or credit union, a home equity line, or a credit card for smaller jobs. Compare the total cost of each, not just the monthly figure. A home equity line may carry a lower rate but puts your house up as security; a credit card is fast but usually expensive if the balance lingers. A short-term promotional offer can be the cheapest of all if you are certain you can pay it off before the promotion ends.

Also check what rebates exist before you buy. Under the July 2025 federal budget law, the 25C energy efficiency tax credit no longer applies to systems installed in 2026 or later. Your electric utility and the equipment manufacturer may run rebate programs at different times, and a tax professional can tell you how any of it affects your situation.

Why finance your project with Puzzled Comfort Solutions

You will pay off a financed system for a while, so its quote must be honest. Puzzled Comfort Solutions is owner-operated out of Lexington since its 2021 start, with Chong Kim sizing systems himself, so the person who sizes the system also explains the options. Estimates are free, and you see the trade-offs between a repair, a base replacement and a higher-efficiency system before applying for anything. Reviewers have mentioned how easy financing made a full ductwork replacement. As a Bryant-authorized dealer we can often source replacement equipment within days, which matters when the house is hot and the loan is approved.

“Chong showed up on time and took a look at our system. We wanted a full duct work replacement and he agreed it was a good idea. He helped us with very easy financing. He arrived to do the job when he said he would and did excellent work. When he was done, he cleaned everything up. You wouldn't have even known he was there. Our AC works better than it ever has. We can't recommend Puzzled Comfort Solutions more. They are awesome to work with and do excellent work. Thank you very much Chong.”

“Don’t let the name fool you! The only thing that left me puzzled was why I haven’t used their services in the past. On the advice of a friend, I called them up and requested a quote to replace my old unit. Not only was I impressed with their price, but also how much time and effort they placed in ensuring that the finished product was going meet my wants and needs. Once the install was complete and the system was tested, an undeniable difference of comfort presented itself in my house and it didn’t take long to find that the unit was remarkably more efficient. I highly recommend using these guy’s!”

“This is an awesome company. They have outstanding professionalism without loosing the personal touch. They actually listened to us without trying to sell something we did not want. They fully answered any questions we had without being too technical so we could understand. Their rates are extremely reasonable. We replaced our old system with a more energy efficient one. I would not hesitate to recommend them as they went out of their way to make sure we were happy with our decision.”

What do people ask about paying for HVAC over time?

How do I apply for HVAC financing?

Start with a written quote, so you know the amount you are applying for. When you are ready, ask us and we will explain the financing available and how to apply, which is usually a short form completed online or over the phone. The lender reviews it and tells you whether you are approved and on what terms. Read those terms before you sign.

Can financing cover ductwork and installation?

In most cases, yes. Financing is generally written around the full project on the quote, which can include the equipment, installation labor, ductwork, thermostats and related electrical work at the unit. Ask when you get your quote whether smaller repairs qualify, since that depends on the lender's rules.

How fast are financing decisions?

The lender controls the timing, not us. Many applications get an answer quickly, sometimes during the same conversation, while others need extra review or documents. If your system is down in July, apply as soon as you have the quote so the decision does not hold up the installation date.

Does applying for HVAC financing affect my credit?

It can. Some lenders prequalify with a soft inquiry, which does not affect your score, while a full application usually brings a hard inquiry. Ask which applies before you consent. If you are also comparing your bank or credit union, get the written quote first so every lender sees the same amount.
