Puzzled Comfort Solutions is a heating and air conditioning company in Lexington, South Carolina, run by its owner-technician, Chong Kim. Customers who call usually talk to the person who will diagnose the system, and that is how the business has grown: one referral at a time, from homeowners, landlords, realtors and small businesses across Lexington County and the Midlands.
The name gets a smile, and it is a fair description of the job. A house that will not cool on a humid July afternoon, a heat pump that blows cold air on a frosty morning or an upstairs that never catches up is a puzzle with several possible answers. Our work is to test until the real cause is clear, explain it in plain words and fix it the right way.
Our story so far
- April 19, 2021: Puzzled Comfort Solutions LLC is registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State (entity no. 1114274), based in Lexington, with Chong Kim as its registered agent. The company remains in good standing.
- 2021: The first Google reviews arrive: new AC and heating systems, duct and vent installation and thermostat installs around Lexington. One early customer wrote, “Don’t let the name fool you!”
- 2021–2023: Word of mouth builds. Reviews describe replacement equipment located and installed within days, a refrigerant leak found after another company missed it, and emergency calls on a summer night and before a 25-degree night.
- July 14, 2023: The first company website, “Puzzled Comfort HVAC”, goes live with pages for residential HVAC, commercial HVAC, 24/7 emergency service and financing.
- January 26, 2024: That website moves to puzzledcomforthvac.com, with the homepage line “Stay Comfortable Year-Round” and customer testimonials from Stephen, Patti and Denise.
- 2026: Puzzled Comfort Solutions is a Bryant-authorized dealer, holds NATE certification and offers discounts for school employees, veterans, first responders, law enforcement, health care workers and families with special-needs members.
- October 2026: The Google Business Profile holds 29 reviews, every one five stars, and this new website launches with a page for each service and the Midlands communities we serve.
Credentials and experience
- Bryant-authorized dealer. We install and support Bryant heating and cooling equipment. Have another brand at home? Tell us the make and model when you call.
- Certified with NATE (North American Technician Excellence). NATE is the industry’s technician certification program for heating and cooling.
- Over 10 years of HVAC experience. Chong Kim has worked in heating and air for over a decade, and has run Puzzled Comfort Solutions in Lexington since 2021.
- Fully licensed and insured. You can confirm any South Carolina HVAC contractor on the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) website; ask us for our license and insurance details when you call.
What we do
Residential and commercial heating and cooling: AC repair, installation and maintenance; heat pump service and installation; furnace service and repair; ductless mini-split repair and installs; ventilation and indoor air quality; duct and vent installation and repair, up to full ductwork replacement; and thermostat installation. We also handle the HVAC-related electrical work that keeps equipment running safely, HVAC and electrical inspections for home sales, and gas log fireplace repair.
How we work
- Honesty over gimmicks. In the owner’s words: “At Puzzled Comfort Solutions, we believe in honesty and hard work without all the gimmicks.”
- You get options, not a sales pitch. Repair or replace, single-stage or variable-speed: you hear the pros and cons of each and make the call.
- We find the cause. A refrigerant leak gets located before anyone talks about adding refrigerant; a wet ceiling gets traced to its source.
- We move fast when it matters. When a system is past saving, replacement equipment is sourced quickly, often within days of the first call.
- We clean up. The work area is left the way we found it, minus the old equipment.
Where we work
Our base is Lexington, and most days run between West Columbia, Cayce, Red Bank, Irmo, Chapin and the Lake Murray shoreline, with regular calls into Columbia and the rest of Richland County.
